A clear sky and crisp air greeting visitors to downtown Saturday morning as Harvest on the Square returned for another year on September 27.  The event ran from 10a.m. to 2p.m. and drew thousands of people to the courthouse square.

Nearly 100 vendors filled the streets, offering handmade crafts, seasonal flowers, baked goods, specialty foods and other items.  Several food trucks were also on hand, serving a wide variety of meals and snacks throughout the day.

While shopping and food were major highlights, many attendees said the best part was the chance to see familiar faces.  Residents greeted neighbors, friends and former classmates, often stopping in the street to catch up.  The events provided a community atmosphere that went beyond the traditional marketplace.

Local organizers said Harvest on the Square continues to grow each year, both in vendor participation and in turnout.  The combination of shopping, food and fellowship has helped make it a signature fall event for the community.

For many, the festival served as a kickoff to the fall season, bringing together people of all ages to celebrate local talent, small businesses and community spirit.
