Brownsville resident and business owner, Tony Zagaros, asked the City Council if there was anything they could do to help clean up the streets. Zagaros stated he has to wash down his street after the garbage truck passes, and that with the parade coming up, he does not want to see children picking up candy from the road where such a mess has been.

Tony Zagaros address the issue of garbage trucks spilling liquids onto the streets.
Delores Jones addressed the City Council about a tile being broken or stopped up, and this is causing flooding issues. Mayor Simon said he will have someone look at it, and they will find a solution.
In the Clerk’s updates, City Clerk Lori Burnett stated she and Jennifer Hite have been working on grants for the fire department and the City Park. In total, they have applied for 13 grants to date.
Mayor Ricky Simon said he was approached by some individuals to install a small disc golf course at the City Park. This would be a low-cost project that will allow residents another opportunity to use the park. He is also looking at some playground equipment for the park.
The next meeting will be moved to Sept. 15, 2025, at 5:00 pm in the city building, due to the holiday and scheduling conflicts. The meeting is open to the public.
