Billy Joe Jennings

GLASGOW – Billy Joe “Calhoun” Jennings, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at NHC Healthcare. He was born to the late Mike Jennings and Ethel Denham.

He enjoyed coon-hunting, western movies, gospel/country music, and spending time with “them babies.” He worked at the sawmill in Summer Shade. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his son, Joe Jennings (Tammy); daughters, Karen Dowell (Charles) of Glasgow, and Julia Vaughan (David) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Amanda Browning (Chris), Chris Dowell (Katie), Felicia Wilson, Sarah Jennings, Emmy Rawlins (JR), Hannah Jennings (Shelton), and Sophie Jennings; great-grandchildren, Shelby Ballard (Anthony), Christopher Browning, Mallory Dowell, McKenna Dowell, Jaxson Dowell, Patrick Dowell, Elizabeth Vaughan, Tyler Dodson, and Kierra Moore; great-great-grandchildren, Kason, Grayson, Braylon, and Magnolia.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janice Jennings; granddaughter, Vanessa Johnson; great-granddaughter, Gracie McAdams; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 14, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Gee Harvey Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday starting at 8:00 am until time for the service.
