Community Action of Southern KY is celebrating 60 years of “Helping People, Changing Lives.”

The non-profit organization will be commemorating this important milestone with several open house events across the region with the Metcalfe event being held on March 7th at 2 p.m. at Community Services in Edmonton.

The time is being set aside to reflect on and rededicate themselves to the Community Action Promise, which states: “Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.”

Community Action of Southern KY services ten counties in South Central Kentucky and maintains around 35 program facilities. Funded by federal, state, and local government funding, private contributions, and user fees, CASoKY provides community services such as emergency food and shelter, low-income home energy assistance, refugee services, scholarships, and more.

Additionally, children and senior services are provided.
