Here we go again

The Herald-News
They’re at it again! The World Health Organization (WHO) is attempting to get a panic started just like they did with Covid only this time they want to make a pandemic out of bird flu (H5N1). They are crying wolf and it’s only a puppy.
Surely after all the hoopla about pandemics, the people of the United States don’t believe everything the WHO reports. Yet, there it is every time you turn on the TV another world news program talking about bird flu and how it has spread somewhere.
Just today, an email popped up from ABC News about a man dying from bird flu in Louisiana. If you research further, you find he was 65 years old, had underlying health conditions, and had been in the hospital for a month. So, what really caused this poor fella to die? Will the public ever be privy to his actual cause of death?
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is reporting that the public health risk is low and there has been no person-to-person spreading, but the network news can’t stop talking about it. Then there are the scammers wanting to make money off scared people who believed the news by selling them emergency contagion kits that include drugs like Tamiflu, Z-Pac, and Ivermectin for a small fortune.
The FDA states there are already three vaccines for the avian flu or H5 and they report that Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and vaccine manufacturers GSK and CSL Seqirus are already conducting human trials on updated H5 vaccines.
However, I’m guessing there are a lot of people out there like me who would refuse to take that vaccine. Especially after the endlessly publicized booster shots that seemed to arrive every 30 days for Covid.
A Time Magazine article reports, “Public health and infectious disease folks around the world are watching bird flu very, very carefully,” says Dr. William Schaffner, professor of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and spokesperson for the Infectious Disease Society of America.
Honestly, what concerns me are the constant recalls and hospitalizations caused by food-borne pathogens. As I write this, it is only the 8th day of 2025 and the fda.gov market withdrawals list already shows three foods pulled from stores for Salmonella and Listeria. Those two bacteria cause much more harm every day and you barely hear a word about them.
You can check the lists for yourself at https://www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls and https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts.
What it all comes down to is using common sense. Stop believing every word the World Health Organization and national media says as true. Also, look at what government organizations, lobbyists, and big businesses stand to gain the most from the problem.
