Donna Carol Elmore
Donna Carol Elmore, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on August 13, 1945, to the late Roy Hurt and the late Nina Jewell Hurt Highland, Donna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose faith, family, and warm spirit were at the heart of her life.
A proud alumna of Austin Tracy High School, Donna graduated as valedictorian before earning her bachelor’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University. She dedicated 28 years of her life to teaching at Austin Tracy Elementary School, where her passion for learning and commitment to her students left a lasting legacy.
Faith and family were the most important parts of Donna’s life. She is survived by her daughters, Emilee Bailey and Whitney Elmore; her grandchildren, Ryan Mosier and Dustin Mosier; her great-grandchildren, Eli Kemp, JJ Mosier, Blakely Mosier, and Jayla Young; and her sister, Martha Akers, with whom she shared a close and loving bond; nephews, Adam Akers and Cliff Akers and their families. Donna is also lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Amy Elmore; her granddaughters-in-law; Keri Mosier and Addie Mosier; and her brother-in-law, Henry Akers. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Malcome Elmore.
Donna was known not only for her quiet strength and deep faith, but also for her vibrant personality and playful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her. Her warm smile, quick wit, and generous spirit made her a beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to The Donna Hurt Elmore Memorial Scholarship. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The funeral service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
Donna’s legacy of love, faith, and radiant personality will forever inspire and bring comfort to those who were blessed to know her.
