Janeta Markham Kidd
BOWLING GREEN – Janeta Markham Kidd, loving wife of Emory DeWayne Kidd, and supermom to Matthew David Gibson, died on July, 23, 2024, in Bowling Green. A room full of family members and friends were at her bedside as she peacefully passed away with their gentle last messages of love whispered to her.
She was a Valentine’s Day gift to her parents, born on the first wedding anniversary of George Thomas Markham and Claudia Jane Sherfey. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1980 and from Western Kentucky University in 1984 with a degree in accounting. She was a successful accountant, accounting supervisor, and manager, most recently working and retiring from S.E.W.A. and was highly respected in her various positions of authority throughout her career.
She had a huge personality, and it is said, “She brought the life of the party with her!” She held the titles of “Favorite Aunt” and “Younger Sister” which she claimed loudly and proudly. Her siblings, Fred Markham, Wade Markham, Gail Wolgast, and Dane Markham, remember her as a bright, funny, and loving sister, and we will always feel incomplete without her presence. Her many nieces and nephews absolutely adored her.
She had a tender heart for children and animals. Through the years at her country home, she loved and protected all kinds of God’s creatures- donkeys, cows, rabbits, quail, guinea hens (the Daryl’s), dogs, cats, and goats… oh SO many goats! Each had a name, and none would ever become food. She was not overly fond of coyotes.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Broadway United Methodist Church. Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. and a celebration of life service will start at 10:00 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Broadway United Methodist Church, 1323 Melrose Street, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42104 or WAY FM Christian Radio Network, PO Box 4303, Houston, TX 77210.
