Wanda Compton Holmes

GLASGOW – Wanda Compton Holmes, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at NHC Healthcare. She was born October 30, 1945, in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Otis Compton and Ethel Sexton Compton. Wanda spent her life helping care for others, working many years at Homewood Nursing Home and went on to work, until retiring, at T. J. Samson Home Health. Wanda was a devoted member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church in Glasgow.

Survivors include one son, Todd Holmes (Karen) of Glasgow; one daughter, Jessica Jones (Greg) of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Shelby Pace (Wesley) of Glasgow and SheaLee Coy (Michael) of Bardstown; three step grandchildren, Amber Jones, Gage Jones, Nathan Jones, all of Glasgow; four great-grandchildren, Chloe Shea Pace, Hattie Ann Pace, Lyric Wayne Coy, Sterling Tate Jones; five brothers, James, Donald, Cecil, David, and Sammie Compton, all of Glasgow; and three sisters, Linda Reece, Lois Brown, and Joyce Carlson, all of Glasgow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Buel Holmes; two brothers, Gary and Douglas Compton; one sister, Betty Compton; and one brother-in-law, Johnny Reece.

The funeral service for Mrs. Holmes will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Bethel Independent Baptist Church with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday afternoon from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Bethel Independent Baptist Church and on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until time for the service at the church.
