William August Groenwald
GLASGOW – William August Groenwald, 83, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at SKY Rehabilitation Hospital. Born August 29, 1940, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Edmond and Katherine Miller Groenwald.
Bill was a retired systems analyst at Sears, Roebuck & Co., a Marine Corps veteran, and a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Leah; three children, Robert William Groenwald of Illinois, William Edmond Groenwald (Jeri) of South Carolina, and Rebecca Louise Turner (Merle) of Illinois; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Rosary at 7 p.m., at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.
I am a friend of Bill ,we were in the Marine Corps together back in 1959.
I have sent many emails to Bill, for years lately no response. Did not know he had passed.
I am also from Chicago, born and raised , living in Az, past 15 years.
Have found memories of us back in Hawaii.
Will miss hearing from Him.
