Dovie Louise Syra Garmon

EDMONTON – Dovie Louise Syra Garmon, 97, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Metcalfe County Health Care Center. She was born in Edmonton, KY on December 25, 1925, to the late Lewis Henry and Zoie Monte Young Syra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Garmon.

Mrs. Garmon attended the Winfrey Chapel Church and enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Williams (Larry) of Hiseville, KY and Penny Young of Edmonton, KY; four grandchildren, Pam Register (Dean), Jeff Wilson (Tara), Terri Parke, and Tommy Young (Charlotte); great-grandchildren, Maddie Guepet, Hunter Wilson, Scarlett Wilson, Mariah Young, Jordan Young, Delana Young Mahaney, T. J. Young, Jenny Parke Heckel, Jessica Nicole Parke Semon, and Jeremy Lee Parke; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Syra of Edmonton, KY; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and will continue Wednesday morning until the time for the service at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home.
