The Edmonton City Council held their monthly meeting on Monday, May 3 with social distancing and masks in use.
The first order of business was to approve the Discretionary Fund Agreement between the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the City of Edmonton. The Transportation Cabinet agrees to reimburse the city for the resurfacing of Beauchamp Street from KY 163 extending to KY 496, which is approximately 0.235 mile for up to $16,450.
The council also approved Resolution 2020-2021-08 authorizing Mayor Doug Smith to sign the Discretionary Fund Agreement on behalf of the city.
The Municipal Road Aid Agreement between the City of Edmonton and the Secretary of the Transportation Cabinet for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021, in the amount of is $32,395.07 for use in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of urban roads and streets, was approved.
The Council members agreed to pass the Resolution affirming the municipal road aid agreement and accepting the statements within it, while also appointing the Mayor to sign the agreement on behalf of the city.
The monthly report for the Water, Sewer, and Gas Department was presented by Public Works Superintendent Moe Hensley, noting that the Hickory Ridge Water Tank is ‘up and running.’
Chief Delaney Wilson presented the Police Department’s April activity as follows: 63 traffic stops, 65 complaints, 11 arrests, 34 citations written, 4 animal complaints, 5 warrants served, 5 domestic disturbances, 12 non-injury accidents, 2 new investigations, 1 incomplete 911 call, 4 fights, 3 alcohol intoxication, 1 DUI’s, 3 drug calls, and 6 medical runs for a total of 219 responses.
Fire Department Chief Jerry Clemmons read the April report. The department had a total of 15 runs with 10 being medical, 3 lift assists, 1 fire, and 1 public service.
In other business, the Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce requested that the city close a section of East Stockton Street on June 12 for the Summer Fest event.
