Staff Report

The Butler County Arts Guild has launched a new program designed to introduce young children to the arts while encouraging creativity, learning and leadership.

The Creative Kids Program is geared toward children ages 4 to 7 and offers fun, hands-on activities that explore different forms of art. The program also provides opportunities for older children to develop leadership skills by helping guide and encourage younger participants.

Classes are held once a month at the Butler County Arts Guild building, located at 115 W. Ohio St. in Morgantown.

The cost is $5 per child, per class, with free admission for Arts Guild members. An adult must accompany each child during class. Organizers encourage participants to wear comfortable, art-friendly clothing, as activities can get messy.

The program kicked off Monday, Oct. 5, with an apple-themed class. Children explored several forms of artistic expression, including literary arts through listening to and creating stories, visual arts through printmaking and painting, and performing arts through rhythm, rhyme and choreography. Activities also focused on the artistic elements of color and shape.

The next class is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, at 3:45 p.m. Space is limited, and families are encouraged to register early.

To reserve a spot, call or text 270-526-0281.
