The Edmonson County Extension Office held a meeting on October 20, 2026. Edmonson County Homemakers President Terrie Webb, Family Resources Laura Grace Meredith, and Bridgett Poteet with 4-H were present, along with Extension Office Director David Embry and other staff/volunteers.
The board put forth new member recommendations for the Judge Executive to appoint to the Board at a later date.
The District Tax was discussed. Real Property Rate is 0.018, Personal Property 0.201, and Motor Vehicle 0.0175. Optional Taxes include: Aircraft Tax, Water Craft Tax, and Intransient Inventory (from the railroad).
David Embry said that he is grateful that the County and City work well with his office.
Ideas for new programs were shared. Ideas were put forth in the categories of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 4-H, and Family Consumer Science with 4-H responsibility.

Area Extension Director, Amber Huffman, attended the gathering and gave some useful information. Huffman reminded everyone that Kentucky Ag Tax Exemption renewal was due by Dec. 31. Huffman said that agents work really hard on nutrition programs throughout the year but had budget grant cuts, so some of the free things offered will be cut. However, they are working hard to keep up standards.
Huffman was also glad to share that 4-H members hit a record high for the number of campers last season. All enrollment forms for 4-H are online now. If you need help, you can contact the office, and they will help you. This is statewide and not just local. Huffman stressed that volunteers were always needed and appreciated.
A great meal was prepared and served by the Extension Office staff.
