Rita Kelly Brown

EDMONTON – Rita “Ree Ree” Kelly Brown, 67, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. She was born on August 9, 1958, in Green County, Kentucky. Rita was the daughter of the late Leroy Harrison Kelly and Shirley Temple Posey Kelly. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Michael Kelly. Throughout her journey, Rita carried with her the steady strength and kindness that she learned from her family.
Rita devoted much of her professional life to her work as a bookkeeper, demonstrating remarkable diligence, attention to detail, and reliability. Her dedication to her career was evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside her. Outside of her professional life, Rita was a proud member of Maple Hill Church, where her faith and commitment were valued by all who knew her.
Those who knew Rita cherished her warm presence, her love for her family, and her unwavering kindness. She found joy in simple pleasures — tending to her garden, canning vegetables, and sharing laughter and stories during time spent with family and friends. Rita’s love for her cats was well known and matched her gentle nature and nurturing spirit.
Rita is survived by her devoted husband, Billy Brown of Edmonton, KY, who stood by her side through life’s joys and challenges. She will be fondly remembered by her stepdaughters, Tabatha England (Aaron) and Brittany Grissom (Jr. Ray), whose lives were richly touched by her care and affection. Rita’s legacy also lives on through her special nieces she loved like daughters, Amanda Patterson (Jason) and Rebecca Pruitt (Josh), and her grandchildren, Miranda, Chase, McKenzie, Easton, Lilly, Katie, Camden, Abigail, Audrey, and Oliver. Her influence, generosity, and steadfast love will echo in their hearts forever.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 pm and will continue Thursday after 8:00 am at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home.
Bro. Nick Fields and Bro. Roger Poynter will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Josh Pruitt, Camden Patterson, Jason Patterson, Easton Fields, Jr., Ray Grissom, Chase England, Aaron England, and Steve Hartfield.
