Kentucky officials have announced that Nolin Lake State Park Campground is on track to reopen next month following extensive repairs caused by the historic flooding of 2025.
Gov. Andy Beshear said the state has prioritized reopening both Nolin Lake State Park and Fort Boonesborough campgrounds after major flood damage affected the facilities last year.
Primitive camping at Nolin Lake is expected to resume July 1, giving visitors access to bathhouses, potable water and the RV sewer dump station. A full reopening of the campground is anticipated July 15, when electrical service to individual campsites is restored and all amenities return to normal.
The campground sustained significant infrastructure damage after prolonged flooding left portions of the park underwater for weeks. Repairs have included work on the water system, bathhouse, wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. Beach areas, playgrounds and other public-use amenities are also being refurbished.
Kentucky State Parks Interim Commissioner Mark Kellen said crews are working to complete repairs as quickly as possible while keeping visitor safety a top priority.
Officials are asking the public to stay off campground property until the park officially reopens.
The state previously allocated $40 million for campground improvements across Kentucky State Parks, part of an ongoing effort to modernize facilities and enhance the visitor experience.
