Jarred Hayes and Kenny Decker were hard at work on Wednesday April 1 at the Brownsville City Park.

Hayes and Decker have been trying to salvage as many of the picnic tables, that were damaged during the 2025 floods, as possible. Decker used a grinder to help remove old paint and to see the extent of rust damage. Many of these tables were found several yards downstream and had been under water for several days before being recovered. Hayes then gave them all a fresh coat of paint to stop any more rust damage and to brighten up the Park. They will also be adding new wood for the seats and tops.

The City Clerks have applied for grants to help with replacing the tables but so far have not had any luck. Lori Massey has assured The Edmonson News that she will continue to apply for grant money to improve the city park. The Mayor’s Office and all City Council members are working on things for the park to make it a more useful space for everyone to enjoy.
