The 5th graders at Morgantown Elementary and North Butler Elementary were busy on March 27, as they participated in a Butler County history field trip. The trip was hosted by the Butler County Family Resource Center and the Butler County Youth Services Center.
Each group visited several locations throughout the county, including the Green River Museum in Woodbury, the Butler County Board of Education, Morgantown Bank, the Butler County Courthouse, the Rochester Community Center, Rochester Bank and the Provo one room school. At each stop, students spent approximately 10 to 20 minutes learning about the history of that area. The groups spent additional time in Woodbury, where more hands-on activities were available.

Members of the Crittenden County 4-H were there with the Early American Heritage Project. The men and women were dressed in authentic clothing from that period. The ladies demonstrated how pies were made, while the men discussed early American wars and the weapons used during those times.
The children had a wonderful time, as they do every year. This trip is a great way to show the children of Butler County what helped shape our little community into the town it is today.
