Gladys May Houchens

GLASGOW – Gladys May Houchens, 85, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at TJ Samson Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Zera Elmore and Rose Smith Elmore. She worked many years at TJ Samson Hospital Snack Bar. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Jones (Jimmy), and son Ricky Green; four grandchildren, Scotty Harper (Melissa), Stacey Harper, Anthony Harper (Kayla), and Kelly Wells (Jason); eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Houchens; son Darrell Houchens; three brothers, Bill Elmore, James Elmore, and Lloyd Adams; and two sisters, Francis Sizemore and Joyce Houchens.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 27, 2026, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 am on Friday.
