Edmonson Fiscal Court Recognizes Edmonson County Family Resource and Youth Service Centers

Edmonson County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on February 9, 2026.
Judge Executive Scott Lindsey read the proclamation acknowledging February 9-13 as Family Resource and Youth Service Center week. The Centers are located throughout the school system and work to support students and their families with anything they may need. Recently, during the government shutdown, they held a food drive and helped to distribute food to families who were affected.
The Road Department reported they used 275 tons of salt in the previous ice storm. The department has ordered another 100 tons of salt. Mow trim is out working, and the department will be installing some more road tiles. Judge Executive Scott Lindsey thanked the road crew for their work along with the fire departments, ambulance service, and sheriff’s office.
Sheriff James Vincent reported in January that they received 470 calls for service. Vincent was glad to report no wrecks during the recent ice storm, although there had been several automobiles that slid off the road. 87% of property taxes have been collected, totaling $9,150,544.45??
Jailer Todd Vincent reported 13 inmates currently. He also stated there had been no court in the last three weeks due to holidays and ice.
County Attorney Adam Turner reported his office has been working on Entertainment permits. Citation fees will be issued for non-compliance.
Kevin Alexander, County Clerk, stated his office has been using the new bookkeeping software and that things seem to be going good with that.
In Parks and Rec. Cody Stewart said the Little League Softball and Baseball form will go out on March 7.
In new business bids for a new truck for the JAWS of Life truck were opened. The Fiscal Court tabled a decision until it could compare the bids. Prices ranged from $268,057 to $260,000.
The Fiscal Court agreed to hire Casey Sowders as a full-time road employee. The Court also approved the Ordinance EC26-08 Budget amendment, first reading. This covered the recreation tax increase revenue from the budgeted estimate of $50,000 to the actual contribution of $85,000. The Court approved applying for the T-Mobile Hometown Grant Q1 2026 for the Chalybeate Park ball fields. Cody Stewart said if they receive any money, he will most likely put it to use for new bleachers and to improve the ball fields.
Resolution EC26-05 Fiscal Year 2027 Jailer’s duties and compensation were tabled so that magistrates can compare other counties’ budgets. This will include the duties of the jailer and the salary.
The Fiscal Court approved the following pending final audit; Sheriff’s Monthly Fee Account report, Sheriff’s January Property tax report, Sheriff’s January Franchise Tax report, County Clerk’s January MVAV Tax Collection report, County Clerk’s 2025 Annual Settlement, County Clerk’s January Deed Transfer Tax report, County Clerk’s January Delinquent Tax Collection report, and County Clerk’s 2026 Revenue Supplement report.
The Fiscal Court approved the following: 2027, CPI county employees to be raised to 2.7%, and the Treasurer’s January Monthly Settlement report.
The Fiscal Court then acknowledged the County Clerk’s January document storage Fee pending final audit, acknowledged the Dog Control January CAD report and the Recreation Tax Commission Fiscal Year 2027 budget.
The next Fiscal Court will be held on February 23, 2026, at 4:00pm in the upstairs courtroom and is open to the public for viewing.
