A Glasgow man is now facing a murder charge after a child died in a vehicle collision last May.

Cory Bowles, 31, was arrested on January 6 and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, according to Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Katan Parker.

According to jail records, Bowles has a $500,000 cash bond.

On May 30, 2025, Bowles was driving on I-65 when he veered off the roadway striking a parked vehicle that was occupied by 23-year-old Dru Smith, also of Glasgow. Cory and Mindy Bowles, a passenger, and a male juvenile were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Mindy Bowles and Smith were both airlifted for further treatment.

Another female juvenile passenger, which was the daughter of Corey and Mindy, was airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital, where she stayed until she succumbed to her injuries on July 5.

Bowles was arrested four days after the child’s death for related charges of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, and fourth-degree assault.

An open records request filed by Jobe Publishing last year confirmed that a Hart County indictment alleged that Bowles ingested heroin and fentanyl before colliding into the parked car.
