The Metcalfe County Fiscal Court held its last meeting of 2025 on Tuesday, December 23rd, with the following in attendance: Judge/Executive Larry Wilson, Magistrates Ronnie Miller, Daniel Bragg, Harvey Hawkins, and Kevin Crain, Attorney Holly Coleman filling in for Sharon Howard, and Treasurer/Fiscal Court Clerk Page Edwards.

Others in attendance were Solid Waste Coordinator Kim Jandt, Road Supervisor Chris Compton, Emergency Management Director Adam Bennett, and for The Herald-News, PJ Martin.

Judge Wilson declared a quorum present, and the agenda was approved after motions by Bragg and Crain.

Judge Wilson moved down the agenda, “Next approval of the calendar year (CY 25) Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Budget.”

Office Manager Lynn Lunz explained, “These are just amendments. I think we talked about those the other day, a little bit. We went over a little bit on our vehicle maintenance and different things. We were able to increase, decrease others, so that bottom line budget didn’t change. Just move some money around.”

After motions by Crain and Bragg, the amendment was approved.

The November financial statement was brought back from the last meeting, and Edwards explained, “This is the same thing for the last meeting, except the ambulance fund is balanced.”

The statement was approved after motions by Bragg and Hawkins.

“Next was the approval of the Metcalfe County Nursing Home Corporation’s Certified Statement of Resolution,” said Judge Wilson.

After a short discussion, the motions were made by Miller and Bragg and approved. The Resolution gives Judge Wilson, who is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Metcalfe County Nursing Home Corporation, the authority to execute and sign necessary paperwork.

“Next would be a closed session pursuant to KRS 61.81.(1)(b) Property Acquisition or Sale. I need a motion that we go into closed session,” said Judge Wilson.

After motions by Crain and Miller, the group went into closed session. After approximately 20 minutes, the motions were made to reenter the meeting. “No action was taken in closed session,” announced Judge Wilson.

The budget transfer and interfund transfers were approved with no questions.

The claims listed the sheriff’s office, and Miller asked if that was their start-up money for the year, to which the answer was yes. The only other item of interest was the payment to the Barren County Treasurer for the jail bill, in the amount of $19,655.

The reports for the road, recycling, and EMS Director were included for review.

With no other items to discuss, the meeting adjourned.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
