Avery Shirley

AUSTIN – Avery Shirley, 69, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at NHC Healthcare. He was the son of the late Russell Earl Shirley and Wanda Laverne Williams. Avery proudly served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by one brother, Jeff Shirley; three sisters, Judy Rasdell (Jeff), Brenda Crain, and Connie Sturgeon (Danny; three nieces, Toni Cochran (Brad), Wendy Shirley, and Amanda Close; two nephews, Frankie Richardson and Adam Sturgeon; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother in-law, Noah Crain.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
