$6.5M Road Improvements Underway

Expect slight delays and a need to drive with caution when driving the stretch of roadway between Cave City and Glasgow.
According to an October 2, 2025, press release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 3, a major improvement project was to begin and it is now underway on the KY 90 (Happy Valley Road) corridor between Cave City and Glasgow. The work officially began on Monday, October 6, 2025.

The $6.5 million project aims to improve safety and efficiency on a 9-mile section of KY 90 by adding alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes. The project also includes drainage upgrades, new guardrails, shoulder work, and vegetation trimming.
The project spans from Sanders Street in Cave City to the U.S. 68 Veterans Outer Loop in Glasgow.
Scotty’s Contracting & Stone LLC was awarded the contract.
Completion is anticipated in early fall 2026.
Initial work includes creating a new turn lane from KY 90 to Harry King Road.
Motorists should be aware of lane closures and construction activities, especially between Flint Knob Road and Gibbons Road. Drivers are urged to use caution, reduce speed, and watch for construction vehicles.
