Press Release

On Thursday, August 21, local leaders met at the Judge Executive’s Office to proclaim September as National Literacy Month.  Literacy is crucial for personal development, economic opportunities, social equity, and active participation in society. Recognizing this, each entity has an invested interest in focusing upon the importance of literacy and invites the community to participate and be involved.

The public can expect to see various literacy related projects and activities taking place in the schools, at the Butler County Public Library, with the Three Rivers Literacy Chapter of the Kentucky Reading Association and with the Butler County and Green River Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Make a difference in our community by advocating for literacy participation and improvement.

Attendees of the signing were Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps, Judge Executive Tim Flener, BC School Superintendent Robert Tuck, local DAR chapter regents Lynda O’Driscoll and Rachel Sublett, President of the BCPL Board Naomi Lucas, and Kentucky Reading Association state coordinator Laura Crafton.
