July 9, 2025- Congressman Brett Guthrie visited Edmonson County and Brownsville last week. Guthrie made his rounds by beginning at Brownsville City Hall for a meet and greet catch-up on what is going on in the city. Congressman Guthrie then visited Edmonson County Judge Executive Scott Lindsey to see how things were going and if he could do anything for the county.

Congressman Guthrie also went out to the Edmonson County Lions Club Fairgrounds to see the new updates. The Lions Club received a $100,000 grant late in 2024 to expand or upgrade the fairgrounds. The club had decided to use the funds to upgrade the current building where meetings were held and items were displayed during the fair. Once the construction began, what they thought would be a few structure supports to replace quickly became almost every support. The newly remodeled building, which was gutted and completely redone, will now be able to bring the beauty pageants back to the fairgrounds with the addition of air-conditioned spaces.

Congressman Guthrie was very impressed with the upgrades to the building and hoped that the Lions Club continues upgrades in other areas, as he has a special place in his heart for small-town fairs. Congressman Guthrie told stories of past Representatives from Edmonson County and conversations with President Trump about The One Big Beautiful Bill before leaving.
