Spring Market Day Fun

The Edmonson County Public Library held a day of fun for all on Saturday April 26th. Young and old alike attended the market that was showcasing vendors and small businesses. There were activities such as a petting zoo, sponsored by Westbrook farms, face painting, and lunch served by the Cattlemen’s Association.

There were several vendors with goods for sale. Items for sale included sweet treats such as bakery items and homemade jam by Sweet C’s. You can purchase items from Sweet C’s daily at the BGB Cafe in Brownsville. There were handmade soaps made by Ella Perry and her mother (owner of BGB Cafe). This soap is made from goat’s milk and shea butter with a variety of fragrances. Other vendors such as McGrew Designs had several designs on stainless cups for children and adults. She said you can find her on Facebook and all the items she offers.

Alecia Edwards (Director at Edmonson County Library) said that “Spring Market” is a day to let local businesses showcase their goods to the community. She said 13 vendors were set up along with the petting zoo and Cattlemen’s Association serving lunch.

Sam Skaggs with the Cattlemen’s Association said the purpose of the association is to promote the beef industry, especially the farmers in the county. He said they also have educational classes and have field days to work with the youth to encourage them to continue in agriculture.

The ECMS cheerleaders had a tent set up to sell raffle tickets for a fundraiser to help them with the expenses of cheering, such as uniforms and competition. The drawing will be held May 28th. The cost of a ticket is $10.
