Obituary: Joyce Alma Annis, age 84 of Logansport, KY, passed away
Joyce Alma Annis, age 84 of Logansport, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Morgantown Care & Rehab. Born on Saturday, November 2, 1940, in Morgantown, Kentucky, Joyce’s life was a tapestry of love, creativity, and service, woven through the years with the threads of family, faith, and friendship.
Joyce was the daughter of Collins and Ruby Woosley Bryant, who, along with her four siblings Frances Embry, Gladys Lawrence, Collins Layton Bryant, and Doris M. Bryant, preceded her in death. Her legacy of love and devotion is carried on by her husband of 64 years, David R. Annis of Logansport, Kentucky, married November 19, 1960, was a testament to their unwavering commitment and mutual respect.
They was blessed with a loving family, including their three daughters, Martha Jean Harpe (Ron) of Alvaton, KY, Sarah Marie Denny (Jeff) of Lanesville, IN, and Cindia Lynn Souers (Steve) of Fort Wayne, IN, and one son, David Bradley Annis (Angie) of LaGrange, KY. Joyce’s nurturing spirit flourished as a grandmother to seven grandchildren: Carrington Harpe (Hannah) of Glasgow, KY, Remmington Harpe (Emily) of Bowling Green, KY, Ethan Denny of Louisville, KY, Michael Souers (Amy) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Adelyn, Brynley, and Caroline Annis of LaGrange, KY. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of great-grandchildren Vivian Claire Harpe, Mikayla Ruth and Jonathan Robert Souers, and the anticipation of two more blessings, a baby girl due in May and one on the way in June. Joyce’s siblings, Mary Goodwin of Louisville, KY, and Lowell Bryant (Delphine) of Morgantown, KY, along with several nieces and nephews, also survive her.
Throughout her life, Joyce was an active member of her community. She was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, Big Bend Rural Development and the Butler County Homemakers. Joyce was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel. Joyce’s interests and hobbies were a reflection of her loving and creative spirit. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, quilting, and crafting, often sharing her handmade treasures, she took great pleasure in cooking and exchanging recipes with friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Derek Cain officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery where Carrington and Remmington Harpe, Ethan Denny, Ben and Bob Annis and Charlie McKee will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Thursday 10:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
