At least for the next 41 months, the city streetlights of Bonnieville will remain on, because of a lease agreement between Kentucky Utilities and the City of Bonnieville.  The Hart County Fiscal Court agreed to use the funds from the city to honor the contract with KU for the duration of the contract.  After 41 months, the bill will have to be paid for by the residents to keep the streetlights burning.

Judge Choate welcomed newly elected 24th District State Representative Ryan Bivens to the meeting. All departments gave reports including Jailer Israel Bergerson stating there was a total of 115 in the county jail.  Judge Choate along with the support of the magistrates informed State Representative Bivens the #1 priority for the court will be trying to get state money to help run the jail. Sheriff Jeff Wilson informed the court that 87% of the 2024 tax bills had been paid.

Sheriff Wilson then asked the court to purchase three surplus police vehicles from the City of Munfordville for a total of $7,500, which the court approved.

Animal Shelter coordinator Tony Roberts presented the court with a check for $32,000 from a grant the shelter had received from ASPCA. Mr. Roberts also informed the court that the shelter was negotiating with the Veterans of Hart County to purchase five acres for a future animal shelter.

In other business, the court approved the clerk’s, GRVWD, and sheriff’s 4th quarter report. The court approved a resolution that marijuana use by county employees would still be prohibited. In final business, the court approved reappointing John Bunnell to the GRVWD Board ending 12/29 and approved Caleb Bunnell to the Hart County Assessment of Appeals Board term ending 12/27.

The court’s next meeting will be Tuesday, January 28 at 9:00 am in the courtroom.
