In anticipation of last Friday night’s Crosstown Rivalry game, the second annual Spirit Fest was held last Wednesday evening filling Glasgow’s downtown square with blue, white, maroon, and gold, representing both the Glasgow Scotties and Barren County Trojans.
Both Barren County Judge Jamie Byrd, who hosted the event, and Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse signed a proclamation designating September 15 through 21 designating the week as Spirit Week, one that Royse read aloud to the crowd.
“Whereas, the educational institutions of Barren County and Glasgow play a vital role in fostering community spirit, pride, and collaboration among students, families, and local residents,” the proclamation states, and that’s exactly what last Wednesday evening represented in the pep rally before the two teams went face-to-face in competition.
Arrow Safety and Pro-Crete were the sponsors for the pep rally. Attendees had several features to engage in including inflatables, ice cream, shaved ice, a miniature golf course, and a mechanical bull.
