Verna Ruth Abston

SMITHS GROVE – Verna Ruth Abston, age 76, passed away, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was born in Glasgow, on April 15, 1948, to the late Vernie “Ed” Thomas and the late Gladys Evelyn (Mansfield) Thomas. She was a retired teacher and librarian in Barren County and was a member of South Green Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Abston; three children, Marty Abston (Melanie), Maria Hoots (Mike), and Charlie Abston (Leigh Ann); grandchildren, Matthew Abston, Marvin Douglas Abston, Michael Abston, Christopher Abston, Andrew Abston, Rondall Abston, Samuel Abston, Maren Hoots, Macy Hoots, Brennon Abston, Benjamin Abston, Marlee Abston; grandchildren in heart, Abigail, Aleisha, and Audrey Nuetzman; several great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday at 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
